Bottle Requests

Are you involved in a charity that needs wine for a silent auction? Is the charity in any way (even a tiny little bit, stretch if you need to) related to the wine industry? If so, please post a comment here with information about the charity, the date, and a link if there is one, as well as a contact e-mail. Thank you.

  1. The Ryan Wells Foundation provides scholarships for students who wish to pursue a career as a chef, in the food industry, hospitality industry (wine dinners) or to become a sommelier.
They have several fund-raising events during the course of the year.
May 1st you can read an article, complete with pics, (On The Red Carpet) about an event they held last week. Included is a link to their site.
This a great way to find worthy charities. Kudos to you.

  2. You could provide a significant service if you developed a proper methodology for bringing charity and winery together. To call a spade a spade, most all non profits are engaged in important charitable work. So that's a given. But in addition to the donation, the winery wants/needs marketing mileage. They want to know about the demographics of the group not just its cause. Would the charity write letters and in other ways support the wine industry as it fends off the rapacious tax monster. There are other criteria for selecting a non profit to receive free wine. Hope you can develop such a system even if it's just a checklist
